Super food cereal recipe

As healthy eating becomes trendy more and more food companies are offering gourmet products, but they come at a cost. When you make your own food at home you not only save tons of money but you can also make it exactly to your own liking.

This is my rendition of the new super cereals out there, they sell for about $15 for a small bag at the grocery store but at home you can make it for a fraction of the cost plus you get a lot more!

Toasted

1 cup rolled oats

½ cup nuts (pecans, walnuts, almonds)

2 tbsp.  of oil

2 tbsp.  honey or agave

½ cup unsweetened flaked coconut

¼ cup Chia seeds

½ Hemp hearts

¼ cup chopped dried fruit

1 tsp. cinnamon

Mix the ingredients under “toasted” together and bake them at 300 F for 20 minutes, turning over occasionally. Be careful to check it often, sometimes the oats look really soft but once you take them out they harden up.

After you’ve toasted the oat mixture combine it with the remaining ingredients and store in an airtight container.

You can eat this cereal by itself with your choice of milk, or mixed with other cereals. You can also sprinkle it on your yogurt or incorporate it into your muffin/ pancake batter.  Basically this recipe acts as nutritional concentrate that can be added to tons of other recipes, I’ve even put it into my cookiesJ
