Yoga is an activity that transcends time, age, gender and fitness levels. The practice of yoga encourages overall health and wellness. Yoga is great to increase your flexibility, improve your core strength and stability and yes there are all sorts of other classes and programs out there that can help you to achieve that. Yoga, however, requires a more focused participation, because most poses are held for five full breaths versus the usual one-to-three breaths. Muscles are challenged as the mind and body have to work together simultaneously to hold a position or continue a succession without giving up. Breathing, posing, moving and increasing flexibility happen all together at one time, which engages a new level of discipline in your mind and body.

In our extremely stressful world, how often do we actually take the time to turn everything around us off and just focus on ‘us’. No to-do lists; no work; no kids’ sports; no what do I cook for supper; no fighting health issues . . . it’s just all about ME!!!
