Last week we talked about the 5 questions you should ask any yoga school you are considering for training. Today, O2 Yoga Teacher Training will answer those questions.  Of course there is still a lot of know and consider before picking a school.  If you are interested in O2 please come to one of our FREE information sessions to get ALL of your questions answered.  The dates and times of our next sessions are listed below.

  1. What style or lineage of yoga will you learn?

At Oxygen Yoga & Fitness we teach Flow and Power Yoga.  The Flow (or Vinyasa) and Power yoga that is taught in North America by most studios is a mixture of three different lineages, Ashtanga, Iyengar, and Desikachar.  Ashtanga brings in the element of extreme physical strengthen and flexibility.  The flowing Vinyasa style also comes from Ashtanga.  From Iyengar we get alignment principles, focusing on safety and anatomy.  The Desikachar lineage teaches us that every body is different and thus we need modifications to individualize the practice.

In addition, Oxygen has many fitness and Pilates fusion style classes so in our training we introduce you to these elements.

At the end of our training you will be able to teach Flow, Power, Hatha, Restorative, Yin/Yang and fitness/yoga fusion classes.

  1. What makes this school different or unique?

There are three things that make Oxygen unique.  First off, we want you to come teach with us when you are done with your training.  We are growing and Oxygen needs instructors.  Most schools ask you to go teach elsewhere to get experience first.  We believe so much in our training that we want you to work for us.  Of course we can’t guarantee a job but that is our ultimate goal with every one of our students.

Secondly, we offer a really good mix of fitness and yoga training.  This makes you more flexible as an instructor and gives you the ability to work more.

Lastly, even though we have the fitness element we do not negate the spiritual side of yoga.  This course is a journey for you.  As you become more connected and joyful you will just become a better teacher.  You cannot help others along the path until you have helped yourself.  We focus on your journey and supporting you in any way that we can.

  1. Is the school registered with Yoga Alliance (YA)?

Yes we are!

  1. How many of the hours are spent with the faculty?

We abide by all of Yoga Alliance’s regulations and requirements.  Yoga Alliance requires 180 hours are to be spent in instruction with the faculty.  The anatomy and CPR segments are taught by instructors who have the necessary requirements and are also both yoga teachers.  The Yoga Teacher Training program has their own yoga classes and lectures, which are not open to the public.  Thus, you can always ask a question and get the one-on-one attention that you need.

  1. Who is teaching the course?  What are their credentials and experience?

Christina Raskin is the Lead Instructor for the O2 Yoga Teacher Training program.  She is a E-RYT 200 & RYT-500, register with Yoga Alliance.  Christina started teaching dance at the ripe age of 15!  She started teaching Yoga, Pilates and fitness classes twelve years ago and has loved it since day one!   After many dance injuries, from a professional dance career, Christina found that Yoga and Pilates were the only tools able to heal her body and prevent further injury.  Christina took her 200-hour teacher training with YogaWorks from California and then had the privilege of taking her 300-hour teacher training in India with Kalish Tribal School.

Christina has taught all age ranges in Yin, Restorative, Vinyasa Flow, Hatha, Dance and Pilates.  She truly believes Yoga is for everyone and every body, always aiming to create an inviting, safe-haven in her classes where you are free to explore and heal.  Her hope is that all of her students will leave feeling grounded, refreshed, and invigorated.  Leading to a greater enjoyment and appreciation of this beautiful life!
