The average person probably works about 250 days a year, give or take. That’s with 2 weeks vacation and if you have weekends off. If you work 40 hours a week and work about 50 out of the 52 weeks in a year, that’s about 2000 hours per year. Most of us probably work more then take, then you through kids in the mix and then there is even less time to ourselves. As beneficial as keeping a good routine is, it can be a drag getting through the day. Whether you are tired or and just bored of the repetition there are a few things you can do to change things up and make your day more enjoyable. If you are finding your energy is low, you can do a few simple things to recharge.

It is not uncommon to become resentful or unappreciative towards the repetitive things and tasks in your daily routine. I personally get bored very quickly and like to do things that are stimulating and different each day. This is why I love to teach yoga. Every class is different, your engaging with others and get to move around and listen to music. Listening to music is the number 1 thing to get me through my day. I also like to switch it up. Listening to a variety of music either at work, or while cleaning the house or making dinner can make any task a little more fun. Of course this might not be possible while in an office but putting on a good playlist in the morning on the way to work can put you in a good mood for the rest of the day.

Meditation is a another absolute key to getting through the day. Refocusing your energy and clearing your head from stress, can either change your day from bad to good or if you meditate when you first wake up it sets a positive tone for the rest of your day. I also enjoy listening to motivational tapes or clips on Youtube. A few of my favorites are Tony Robins, Wayne Dyer and Abraham Hicks. It is a daily does of inspiration, a reminder of the how I manifest my life, and positive kick to my day. I find this to get me motivated and thinking in a positive way. If something is going wrong or I’m getting overwhelmed I use meditation combined with listening to the speakers to reset my attitude and give my attention to something else that is working out for me.

When working a Monday to Friday 9 to 5 job, I could not get through my day without my fitness routine. If I had only a 30 min lunch I made it a priority to go for a walk, and would often eat my snack at my desk before or after. If I had an hour I would go to the gym for a quick work out. This actually gave me energy throughout the rest of the day. I was able to work faster and wasn’t as restless. It got me out of the office, I could listen to my music on my headphones and exert some energy and wake myself back up. I would also work out after work, or teach a class to give myself a fun boost as well. It is also something I looked forward to and enjoyed doing after sitting all day. Even when I am tired and just want to go home, I forced myself to go take a class, I knew I would be bored after an hour sitting at home anyway, and would regret not going. I was always happy after I attended class, I liked engaging with my yoga friends. It was fun to meet with a friend, do a class and go for a tea and chat after. It was a like a mid-week date with a good friend. Refreshing and fun.

There are many things you can do in your day to make it more enjoyable. Its an individual preference but whatever it is, it is important to somehow sneak it in to your routine. Changing things up, finding inspiration to keep you motivated. Life is too short to not enjoy each day.
