Childhood Cancer. Two words that should never exist together, but, the reality is, they do.

The good news is, we can help do something about it.

The most common childhood cancer is acute lymphoblastic leukemia (A.L.L.). In the 1950’s, almost every child with A.L.L. died. Today, thanks to childhood research, 90% of all children with A.L.L. will survive.

The Childhood Cancer Canada Foundation (CCCF) and Oxygen Yoga are teaming up to make a difference in the lives of children with cancer.  On Sunday March 4th, participating Oxygen Yoga and Fitness locations will be offering by donation yoga classes to help support this worthwhile cause. All proceeds will go to the CCCF to help support their programs. Please check your local studio for class times and dates. Get your flow on to support a great cause!

The CCCF provides programs such as:

EMPOWER PACKS

Childhood Cancer Canada sends emPower Packs to every family in Canada whose child is newly diagnosed with cancer. These emPower Packs provide families with information and inspiration to cope with what comes next.

AMAZING ADVENTURES

Amazing Adventures help children with cancer feel stronger, empowered, and inspired to battle their illness. Every Amazing Adventure helps create joy and respite for children whose lives are filled with so much uncertainty — including siblings of children with cancer.

BENEVOLENT FUND

The Benevolent Fund provides families with much needed financial assistance to help cover the costs of their child’s funeral. The foundation will fund up to $1000 in expenses.

Fun Fact:

Why is Purple the Colour of Childhood Cancer Canada?

Purple is known to have healing properties: including properties of transformation, bringing spiritual insights, renewal, and detoxification. Leonardo da Vinci proclaimed that you can increase the power of meditation tenfold by meditating under the gentle rays of Violet, as found in Church windows. Purple is the colour for the Creator in many First Nations spiritual teachings.

Oxygen Yoga and Fitness is committed to working with partners in our community to make the world a better place for everyone. Make sure to check you local studio to see if there are Yoga Day for Childhood Cancer classes being offered. All classes will be held with a suggested donation of $10.00 to participate, but feel free to give more if you can! All proceeds will go directly to the CCCF to support and enhance their programs and research.
